Since the Second World War, the plastics industry that benefitted from massive growth and is a testament to the confidence consumers and manfacturers alike have in this synthetic material. Micarta® and Norplex® specializes in the plastics industry by making phenolic grades FR-4, G-7, G-10 that can be used for custom plastic fabrication. Norplex-Micarta produces a phenolic sheet for the plastics industry commonly known as Lamicoid or Melamine.
|
The phenolic sheet is Norplex-Micarta's method of entry into the plastics indsutry. It's hard and brittle that resists abrasion, heat, and chemical pressure. It is an excellent product for electrical insulation and Lamicoid is very expensive material to engrave. Cost is directly related to the amount of precautions one takes to handle the product due to the fact that it is extremely brittle and very abrasive for tools that cut, and the dust emitted when engraving and cutting is a designated carcinogen. Since it's extremely brittle, it is recommended that sheets be purchased in half or quarter sheet sizes in order to reduce the chance of damage in shipment.
